Review: Hunter's Moon

Hunter's Moon (Lifting the Veil, #3)Hunter's Moon by Susan Laine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A sexy page-turner from start to finish, HUNTER'S MOON made me want to howl!

Kieran is a mercenary who sells his services to the highest bidder. After the Great Unveiling his team was nearly annihilated by paranormal monsters. Barely escaping with his life, he now returns the favor by capturing those same monsters. He's never given much thought to what happens to the beings he targets, but that all changes the day he takes Gabriel King captive.

Gabriel is undeniably handsome and personifies controlled power. Kieran, instantly mesmerized by his brown eyes and blond hair, suddenly finds himself breaking every known rule in the brutal world he inhabits. Helping Gabriel escape captivity is the first step, but with his former commander hot on his heels and the contract on Gabriel's life hanging over their heads, Kieran doesn't have time to contemplate the unexpected sexual chemistry that drives him to ignore his instincts.

As a beta of his pack, Gabriel has spent years utilizing self-control and calming others during times of crisis. It's been over 100 years since the last time his emotions got the better of his levelheaded nature. Upon awakening bound and blindfolded in the back of a truck, Gabriel is more than ready to wait for his captors to make the one mistake his wolf will need to overpower their plans and escape. That is, until he suddenly smells his mate, the man he has spent the last four hundred years waiting for.

In that moment, Gabriel experiences despair for the very first time. The fanatics that have caged him mistakenly believe he is an Alpha. The clock is ticking, and Gabriel must find a way to convince his human mate of their bond while at the same time running for their very lives.

HUNTER'S MOON brings back characters I first fell in love with while reading THE WOLFING WAY. The King family returns while continuing to search for their mates, support each other, and adapt to the disruptions brought about by the Great Unveiling. A fast-paced, action-packed, M/M paranormal romance that returns to the roots of the series, HUNTER'S MOON was a pleasure to read. Five stars for a well-developed story line, continuously evolving characters, and steamy romance on the run!
